Phil Weinmeister | September 6, 2019

The Winter ’20 release brings another suite of enhancements to the world of Salesforce Communities, and I’d like to suggest a few to take a closer look at. While I wouldn’t call Winter ’20 a groundbreaking release, there are definitely some valuable innovations that are worth exploring.

These are the top 7 communities enhancements in Salesforce’s Winter ’20 release, with more in-depth descriptions available below:

  • Set Up Navigation Menu Variations
  • Broaden Your Horizons with More Width Control
  • Manage Contributors and Their Roles in Builder
  • Customize the Record List Component Header
  • Make Files on Records Visible to Customers
  • Create and Assign Many Audiences at Once Using APIs (Pilot)
  • Break the Mold with Flexible Layouts

Set Up Navigation Menu Variations

Navigation Menu Variations

Navigation Menu Variations

Quick Take: Create multiple navigation menu variations to provide different navigation experiences throughout your community. Associate with a theme configuration and even personalize for a particular audience.

Manage Contributors and Their Roles in Builder

Manage Builder Contributors

Quick Take: For the first time, it’s not all-or-none when it comes to Community Builder access. Control granular access via a guided flow.

Customize the Record List Component Header

Record List Header Controls

Quick Take: It’s legitimate to say that these should have already been available, but at least they are present now. Enable/disable a number of record list header settings via property editor.

Make Files on Records Visible to Customers

Quick Take: This is one you’ll either not realize is a big deal or you’ll be jumping for joy about. File sharing in Communities has been frustrating for some time, requiring a confusing and complicated process to share files with community users, in some cases. Now, it’s much more straightforward.
