Our 2013 Forrester Groundswell Entry – MSOE Bridge Social Community

We are very excited to share our joint entry with Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) of the Bridge Admissions Social Community entry in this year’s Forrester Groundswell Awards, B2C Social Depth category.

With higher ed enrollment declining every year, it is becoming increasingly difficult for universities to maintain a steady population of incoming students. MSOE applied their trademark of ingenuity to a new, web-based social enabled admission process in an effort to rise above the crowd. MSOE partnered with 7Summits to develop a rich, web-based application tool that is tightly woven into a community platform for prospective students.

The MSOE Bridge Admissions Social Community has been transformational for MSOE and their admissions process, providing real business value and a number of benefits including:


  • Reached ’13 application goal nine months early and acceptance goal five months early
  • Admission counselors increasing productivity by 30%
  • Electrical engineering saw almost 2X enrollment
  • Retention rate from accepted to deposit jumped from 30% to 38% in one year
  • Overall accepted student summer melt decreased by 5%
  • Admission counselors reduced outbound volume by 66%, freeing up time to interact with prospective students in community


  • Deeper insight into MSOE fit per student, did affect stronger matriculation rate
  • Made admissions more accessible and convenient by reducing communication and operational friction in the process
