For decades, Sea Ray’s market leading position and overall new boat purchase volumes allowed many dealers to rely solely on Sea Ray for their profits. Post recession, with overall boat sales dropping by half, dealer showrooms have become an increasingly competitive and fragmented place. As a result, Sea Ray sought to establish a more direct relationship with their end users — to promote communication, loyalty and advocacy — through a customer community.
Sea Ray engaged 7Summits to create a vibrant community for customers. The new customer community provides a brand experience that is unmatched in the marine industry that engages Sea Ray dealers, energizes the customer base and provides a platform for like-minded enthusiasts to share their Sea Ray brand experiences and lifestyle. The community also enables owner-to-owner customer support, allows easy access to product information with a robust knowledge base, and helps drive attendance for boating events. Responsive design was also paramount for these customers who live life on the water.
