Position Overview

The Director, Technology is a split role within the Technology & Accelerator team that involves both management and individual contributor responsibilities. Managerial responsibilities include supervising Salesforce Developers and Technical Leads; while providing career development, engagement oversight, and operational support.  Additionally, the Director role will support the continuous evaluation and improvement of the Salesforce Development and Technical Lead team including stewardship and refinements to the 7Summits methodology, tools, technologies, processes, and enablement assets.  Individual contributor responsibilities include serving as a Technical Lead on cross functional teams.

Responsibilities 

Key responsibilities that this role is expected to effectively demonstrate are as follows:

  • Talent Management. Directly managing a team of five or more Software Engineers while sharing accountability for their performance and retention.
    • Performance Management:
      • Providing ongoing feedback and coaching
      • Supporting MBO achievement
      • Inspecting deliverables to ensure quality and adherence to standards
    • Career Development:
      • Conducting regular 1:1 meetings
      • Maintain career pathing documentation and activities
      • Sharing career ambitions upstream and sharing opportunities downstream 
  • Operations Management. Materially participating in general operational activities that support the Technology and Accelerator competency and the broader business operations.
    • Recruitment Support:
      • Working with recruiters on talent acquisition
      • Providing candidate feedback 
      • Participation in hiring decision and offer processes
      • Groom junior team members to participate in interview processes
    • Resource Management:
      • Provide team leadership and overall team management
      • Managing utilization and forecasting data
      • Maintenance of resource skill, location, and assignment data
      • Participation in staffing decision and placement processes
  • Technical Lead Own definition of the end-to-end solution architecture to accommodate defined business requirements. This includes defining and leading a delivery framework that ensures quality and success.
    • Communicate and document technical solutions and design tradeoffs effectively to business stakeholders.
    • Work with project managers and/or clients to scope work and produce estimates to help define deliverables and timelines.
    • Interact directly with customers to review requirements, manage project delivery and obtain deliverable feedback.
    • Design and implement data structure, flows, Apex classes, and Lightning components to support application build as needed.
    • Manage source control repository and review code to ensure quality development.
    • Release & environment management (i.e.:  deployments).

Skills and Requirements

Basic skills and requirements needed to perform in this role are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years technical experience within the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Experience managing engineering and functional teams
  • Salesforce Developer / Platform Developer I Certification or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience working on an Agile-based cross-functional project team.
  • Experience with Force.com declarative configuration and Apex/Visualforce/API development.
  • Experience with unit, integration and end-to-end system testing and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with user interface development principles and experience with JavaScript, SQL, HTML and CSS.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile-based, quick-moving environment.
  • Salesforce administration and development.
  • Practice with Salesforce communities, especially Lightning
  • Great interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Collaborative and consultative work style.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient in Google G-Suite or Microsoft Office.
  • Travel requirements are in the range of 25-50%.
